The Nature of Ceramic Craftsmanship — Why Every Kamado Jan Is Unique
Your Kamado Jan is made from natural fired ceramic, giving each unit its own character. During the high-temperature firing process, small variations can appear, such as slight color differences, minor glaze shading or texture variation and natural pinholes in the surface. These are normal in handcrafted ceramics and do not affect the strength, durability, or cooking performance of your Kamado Jan. What we don’t allow are cracks, chips, major glaze defects or any repaired areas. Every Kamado Jan is quality-checked to meet international standards before delivery. Increased ceramic thickness. The all-new ceramic shell has been increased in thickness by 5-8mm (more than 25%) for premium insulation and heat retention.
Large and X-Large models are now fitted with the latest Aero-Lift Hinge as standard. An advanced hinge system that counterbalances the heavy ceramic lid with springs, making it feel significantly lighter and effortless to open and close. These mechanisms reduce the dome’s weight, improving convenience and safety for the user
In order to maintain the air-tight seal between the lid & base, a latch locks the lid in place. This latch can easily be released with a slight push onto the lever. All with one hand.
Large and X-Large models are now fitted with the new “Segmented Firebox” design. This improvement to the firebox design minimises the possibility of cracks appearing during thermal expansion. In addition, while performing maintenance or cleaning, these smaller individual segments are far easier to remove than the previous, very heavy, one-piece firebox. This new design also eliminates the need for the Fire Ring.
The entire configuration of the internal components has been re-designed for a superior fit, leaving far less space between the deflector plates and the inside wall of the firebox. This reduces items on the outer edge of the grid cooking faster than those near the centre.
A brand new, easily adjustable top vent is now made from aluminium and easily separates into two sections for easy cleaning preventing a build-up of soot that inhibit adjustment.
Get rid of your previous cook’s ashes super quick with the new ash tray & removable ash drawer system, now standard on Large & X-Large models.
Steel hardware around the shell have been strengthened from 3mm to 4mm thickness, and bolts holding the Easy-Lift Hinge in place increased in diameter.
The ceramic lid has been moulded to neatly accommodate the lid-mounted thermometer for an improved fit.
To keep the heavy Gen 4 mobile, an improved leg stand now also incorporates a storage shelf and upgraded wheels, of which two are lockable for safety.
On Large and X-Large models the lid handle and side trays are now manufactured from extremely durable HDPE (high-density polyethylene). HDPE is known for its high strength, chemical & weather resistance as well as being a food-grade plastic.
Side trays now feature utensil hooks on all sides.
