HIGH QUALITY, THICK CERAMIC DOME

The ceramic dome is the key. Unlike steel, ceramics absorb and retain huge amounts of heat, locking in the natural moisture of food for a superior taste and flavour profile. In a traditional steel braai, food is cooked primarily from below and this process draws out the moisture in food. The oval shape also ensures optimal circulation of heat for even cooking. The heat retention and airtight seal of the dome, allows for many hours of cooking with less fuel than a traditional braai. By adjusting the top and bottom air vents, the temperature can be accurately controlled for hours and hours. The adjustable air vents allow for total control over the dome temperature for many hours. Cook for up to 14 hours at low temperatures. No other grill offers this.

TEMPERATURE RANGE

Any temperature you need can be easily achieved with the Kamado Jan. Cruise along for up to 14 hours at low temperatures of 100-130 degrees Celsius, or crank up the heat to screaming hot temperatures of up to 400.

START-UP TIME

Be ready to cook in as little as 15-20 minutes from lighting the charcoal. Traditional briquettes take as long as 45 minutes and a wood fire even longer to produce coals ready for cooking.

NO CHARCOAL WASTE

Should you have too much charcoal still left after your cooking session, simply close the lid and all vents. This will smother the coals and they can be lit again for your next cook.

LOW MAINTENANCE

The internal surfaces are cleaned by burning the KJ at high temperatures or an hour or two. Do not use any solvents, soaps, chemicals or water on any of the internal ceramics for cleaning. High temps will incinirate all fat or marinade drippings. The outside surfaces can simply be wiped clean due to the smooth glaze on the paintwork. The grids are 304 stainless steel and dishwasher safe, or simply scrub clean with soap and warm water.

LESS TURNING OF MEAT

Kamado Jan is designed to be used with the lid closed for optimal heat circulation and air flow. Unlike traditional grills that rely solely on the heat from below, the Kamado Jan circulates accurately controlled heat around your food for even cooking. No more constant turning of the meat on the grill. Depending on the temperature you are cooking at, turning once or twice will be sufficient. Food is also cooked faster as no heat escapes the dome.
