Mesh Gasket Installation:
1. Ensure that the Kamado JAN has cooled down completely.
2. Peel away old / worn gasket. Use a sharp blade or scraper to remove any residue.
3. With a steel brush or sanding paper, clean remaining residue. Taking care not to scratch the external ceramic surface.
4. Wipe surface thoroughly with acetone making sure to remove all dust particles.
5. Starting at the rear of the unit, and following the contour, stick down the new gasket by peeling away the wax paper as you go around (this will prevent the self-adhesive gasket glue from picking up any dirt).
6. Cut off the excess length if necessary.
7. Use the included patches to cover the join where the two ends meet.
8. In order to cure the adhesive and aid bonding, fire up the Kamado JAN and allow it to heat up to around 200℃. Maintain roughly that temperature for at least 2 hours, in order for the ceramics to sufficiently heat up, keeping the lid closed at all times.
9. Close all air vents and allow Kamado JAN to cool down completely – keeping the lid closed.
10. Once cooled, proceed with normal use of your Kamado JAN.
